Greece Yacht Charter: Great Value, Great Yachts, Great Vacation Experience

Greece is an outstanding destination for yacht charter vacations, with some 1,400 islands to explore in addition to the long, beautiful mainland coast. Now, pricing appears poised to make Greece even more enticing for yacht charter during summer 2013.

Zakynthos-Greece “The current situation with value-added tax in Europe shows that Greece is a great deal tax-wise,” says Yachtstore charter broker Gina Robertson. “If you charter a yacht in Italy this summer, the VAT can range from 6.3 percent to 22 percent. In Turkey, it’s 18 percent. Croatia is expected to come in this year at 21 percent. In France, it is expected to be 19.6 percent. Greece charges a VAT of only 6.5 percent. In comparison with the taxes that charter clients will pay in these other Mediterranean destinations, a yacht charter in Greece is a steal.”

One of Robertson’s favorite charter yachts in Greece is the 130-foot Admiral Aqua. Built in 2009 with an eye toward contemporary flair, her platinum-gold hull makes her a sexy standout on the water. Aqua also boasts a cruising speed of 29 knots, making her among the fastest charter yachts available for zipping from island to island.

Aqua accommodates as many as 11 guests in five staterooms, including a spacious master and two separate VIP suites.

“Among the motoryachts for charter in Greece, Aqua is a great option,” Robertson says. “There are some terrific sailing yachts in the Greek Isles, too. I recently booked clients for a charter aboard the 118-foot Perini Navi Gitana, which is a classic beauty.”
